Meet the Artist

March 2014 170

Kristen Brittain is a local potter who has spent her entire life exploring nature. The little blonde girl running around with mud between her fingers and toes on the Niagara Escarpment in nearby Greensville has grown up. She continues to find her identity and inspiration in the grandeur and the detail of Creation; locally and in her travels around North America and beyond. Whether working with eye and lens, or hands and clay, she finds beauty and translates it into her art.

Eye-catching bowls constructed of oak leaves, serving platters with vine accents, and friendly snails ready to bring some whimsy to any garden are just examples of her unique pottery style. With training from Dundas Valley School of Art and Mohawk College, and past projects in photography, soapstone, paint, and poetry; Kristen finds joy in sharing her discoveries in ways that bring other people outside and into connection with the deeper reality that surrounds us.
